3 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 85g/3oz seedless raisins 45g/1 ½ oz soft dark brown sugar 1 level teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the topping: 85g/3oz wholemeal breadcrumbs 30g/1oz polyunsaturated margarine, melted 1 level tablespoon soft brown sugar ½ level teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 150 C, 300 F, Gas Mark 2. Toss the apples in the lemon juice and then mix them with the raisins, sugar and cinnamon. Spoon the mixture into an oval oven proof dish.
Prepare the topping by spreading out the breadcrumbs onto a baking tray and bake in an heated over, stirring occasionally for 15 minutes until they are dry. Put them in a small bowl and mix in the margarine, sugar and the cinnamon. Increase the oven temperature to 190 C, 385 F, gas mark 5.
Sprinkle the topping over the apples and baked in the oven for 30 minutes. Cover the top loosely with greaseproof paper if the topping is browning too fast.
