CEREAL BARS
Cereal bars are promoted in the media as being the healthy alternative to chocolate bars and many lead us to believe that they are both low in calories and fat. Unfortunately this is often not the case and the bars can contain a lot if hidden fat. Listed below are some of the popular options with those lowest in calories (but not fat!) first.

INSPIRATIONAL IDEAS
August is traditionally a bad month for slimming clubs. Many members leave their clubs because they feel that it is too late to lose weight for their summer holiday or they are too busy with the kids on holiday or it’s too hot, etc.etc. It is a great shame because it is often these same people that panic towards the end of November, realising that Christmas is around the corner and that special outfit won’t go near them.
Yo-Yo dieting is not a good idea as you tend to gain more weight that you lose and you often lose muscle tone and replace this with fat. If you continue with your diet plan now, throughout the summer and into winter you could easily be two stone lighter by Christmas without much effort at all.
Try these tips to keep you motivated.
Try putting 50p (the average price of a chocolate bar) into a jar each day. You could save nearly £300 by Christmas.
Stick a photo of yourself looking your worse, on the biscuit barrel, or crisp box, it should deter you from tucking in.
Try walking your way to fitness by doing two 15 minute walks per day; this will burn up 200 calories a day if you keep up a good pace.
Be realistic with your goals, think only of 7Ibs loss at a time and reward yourself with something nice (but not edible) when this target is achieved.
Try keeping the fact that you are on a diet a secret from friends. They will often try and get you to break your diet by encouraging you to eat ‘something naughty’ Breaking your diet like this often leads to guilt feelings which in turn lead to bingeing.
Take up a new hobby to detract you from overeating. Knitting is becoming very trendy and many supermodels were seen in-between catwalk shows picking up the needles.
Try to eat your meals at the dining table without the distraction of television. It is easy to eat too much when you are watching the TV and your brain can take longer to register that you are full as you are not fully concentrating.
Don’t be tempted to eat the kids leftovers. Squeeze washing up liquid all over them as soon as they are returned to the kitchen. It is amazing how many calories can be consumed by finishing off a few chips, nuggets or fish fingers.
Be prepared for the ‘snack attack’. You will usually know when your vulnerable times are. Make sure that you have prepared healthy nibbles such as carrot sticks or celery made in the fridge. It can be too easy to grab a packet of crisps or chocolate biscuit.
Share your successes, failures and tips with other members. They will appreciate, understand and reciprocate and you won’t feel that you are alone.
