What Is The Quickest Way To Tone Up The Lower Body
|
Hi there- the quickest way to tone up your lower body (i.e from the hips downwards) is to use a mixture of cardiovascular and resistance based exercises; firstly you must use cardiovascular exercise to shed away any excess fat from these areas so the muscles can show through: Running (treadmills) will help shed excess fat everywhere but will especially help the calves and glutes (bottom), exercises on a bike will help shed excess fat and tone the muscles of the quads (thighs) and hamstrings (back of the legs); cross trainers will work all of the leg without putting any/much pressure on the knees, stepper will help the thighs and calves but is not really recommended for those with bad knees or bad backs. Other useful cardiovascular aids are rowing which is really good for power in the legs and swimming which will aid stamina/endurance in the legs. As i say this cardiovascular exercise will help shed the excess fat- the next job is to tone the muscles, using resistance machines in your local gym is the best bet in doing this. Remember that to tone muscle you don't need to use heavy weights-instead find a weight that is fairly taxing for you towards the end of your set and try to lift/use 15-20 repetitions to help tone and define the muscle fibres. Leg extensions will help tone the quads, leg curls will help the hamstrings and the glutes, calf raises will help tone the calves, leg presses try to utilise all of the leg muscles and is probably the best all over leg exercise you can do, hip adductors will help tone the inner thigh whilst hip abductors will help the outer thigh and groin. To keep the definition of the muscles you must try to do these exercises at least once a week hopefully 2-3 times if it is possible and try not to do too much to start with. An advanced execrise is a plyometric exercise like jumping, bounding or leaping over cones e.t.c this helps to build power in the legs and is especially good for sport specifics.
